Paris Simmons was a surprise inclusion in the Rams' squad for the last game of 2007/08 - and he got half an hour of Premier League football under his belt.
The striker had scored 13 goals for Derby's under-18 team and added a few more for the reserves during his second year as an Academy scholar.
And with Robert Earnshaw left out of the squad to face Reading, there was a vacancy to provide attacking cover which Simmons filled.
The London-born forward replaced Tito Villa 63 minutes in to the game against the Royals for his first taste of senior football.
Simmons actually had the ball in the back of the net within seconds of his arrival but the whistle had already gone to pull Darren Moore back for a foul.
The 18-year-old is set to sign professional for next season and he will be looking to make further claims for involvement in the senior squad.
