Defender Claude Davis completed a £3m move to the Rams from Sheffield United in July 2007.

He became the club's fifth signing of that summer with Premier League football just around the corner.

The Jamaican first arrived on these shores in July 2003 - initially on loan to Preston North End from Portmore United.

He made quite an impact at Deepdale and his move was made permanent in March 2004.

While with Preston, Davis made 108 appearances and his outstanding 2005/06 season, where he swept the board at the club's player of the year awards, saw him move to the Premier League with Sheffield United for £2.5m.

Davis, who has 47 international caps, played 22 times for the Blades in 2006/07, but his 2007/08 campaign came to a premature end after he picked up a knee injury in February 2008.

His first appearance since the injury came in August 2008 as the Rams saw off Lincoln City in the Carling Cup.

Davis was in and out of the side for the first half of the season before injury struck again, and after getting back to fitness in January he joined Crystal Palace on loan to be reunited with Neil Warnock - the man who signed him for Sheffield United.
