STEVE DAVIES LATEST
Derby County Football Club: Official Club Statement
Derby County Football Club has today been informed by the Football League Board that the Professional Game Compensation Committee (PGCC) meeting organised for next Tuesday, August 5, has now been cancelled at just two working days of notice.
This tribunal was organised to assess the amount of training and development compensation due to Tranmere Rovers for the transfer of Steve Davies to Derby County. Despite the date being confirmed two weeks ago, the PGCC meeting has now been cancelled as Football League Board Director and Tranmere Chairman Lorraine Rogers is apparently on holiday.
The reason for the cancellation has not been confirmed directly by Ms Rogers as the Football League Board has not been able to contact directly one of its own Directors and member club Chairman to ascertain the details for the requested postponement.
Derby County is staggered at this decision which extends the uncertainty for the player concerned and makes a mockery of all the time and work the club has undertaken in preparing for this assessment tribunal over the summer months.
We await confirmation from the Football League as to when the committee will be reconvened, presumably when holiday commitments allow.
In the meantime, we will take a keen interest in this entire process and procedure to ensure that Derby County is treated in a fair and equitable manner.
It is important to point out that the postponement of the tribunal does not affect Steve Davies's registration with Derby County Football Club.
