RAMS TO LAND CHAMPS LEAGUE ACE
Derby County are set to tie up the signing of Polish international Przemyslaw Kazmierczak from Portuguese giants FC Porto.
The 26-year-old midfielder played Champions League football with the 2004 winners last season and has nine caps for his country.
He has agreed a season-long loan deal and will watch Saturday's friendly at Rotherham before completing the formalities of his move early next week.
Boss Paul Jewell feels the capture of Kazmierczak is an exciting one for the Rams.
"This is a very good deal for Derby County and a signing that I think may well prove to be a great piece of business.
"Kaz has a terrific pedigree. He has experienced Champions League football and international football, as well as playing for Porto, one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
"He is a left-footed central midfielder who can certainly play but at the same time is very strong and very physical.
"I think he is perfectly suited for English football."
Kazmierczak, known simply as Kaz in Portugal, made his international debut in 2006 and has gone on to score one goal in his nine caps.
He joined Porto in July last year and was involved in their Champions League campaign, starting against Liverpool at Anfield.
The 6'3" man started his career at LKS Lodz and also played for Piotrcovia Piortkow Trybunalski and Pogin Szczecin before starring at Boavista in 2006/07.
Kazmierczak's form with Boavista earned him the move to Porto last summer.
