Paris Simmons broke new ground with his Derby County debut on Sunday by becoming the first player born in the 1990s to play for the club's first-team.

The 18-year-old came on after 63 minutes of the Premier League encounter with Reading for his first appearance in the senior ranks.

And in doing so he became the most recently-born player to pull on a Rams shirt in senior action.

Simmons was born in London on January 2 1990 - and to give a flavour of Derby's position at the time, Arthur Cox's side had drawn 1-1 away to Millwall 24 hours previously in Division One thanks to Nick Pickering's goal.

Jason Beardsley held the previous record following his debut against Blackpool in the League Cup earlier this season.

But the right-back was born on July 12 1989, some six months before Simmons.
