GIVE THEM TIME AND SEE THE RESULTS
Paul Jewell looks at Sunday's opponents Everton as a fine example of what can be achieved when a club sticks by its manager.
David Moyes has been in charge at Goodison Park since March 2002 and after overcoming a difficult start he has got the Toffees challenging regularly for European football.
This season they are still in the hunt for fourth place and are hoping to overhaul their city rivals Liverpool for the last Champions League qualifying spot.
"Everton are a great club and David Moyes has done a great job there," Jewell revealed in an interview now being screened on RamsWorld.
"He had a great first season there, then they became embroiled in a relegationo battle, but they stuck with him and they have gone from strength to strength.
"I know from living in the city that Everton can easily be one of the top four or five clubs in the country.
"It is a massive club with a huge fan-base.
"With Liverpool playing Arsenal tomorrow (Saturday) and being in the Champions League, Everton might fancy their chances of sneaking fourth.
"It isn't going to be easy up there at all - it is going to be very difficult."
Jewell began his playing career across Stanley Park with Liverpool but says he has admiration for Everton's success over the years.
He added: "I was brought up a Liverpudlian and I followed them, then I was fortunate enough to start my career there.
"But I have also got a great affinity for Everton because I think David Moyes has done a terrific job.
"It is nice to see a real proper football club like them up there and competing.
"You look at clubs like Everton, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur, and maybe one day we can get Derby County up there with them.
"In the Premier League everyone talks about the top four but Everton is a massive club that I think has the capacity to break in."
