Mile Sterjovski won't make the 12,000-mile round trip to China for Australia's World Cup qualifying game this coming week after hobbling out of Saturday's defeat at Middlesbrough with a groin injury.

And goalkeeper Roy Carroll also faces a race to be fit for this coming weekend's home game against Fulham after aggravating at the Riverside a groin strain picked up against Manchester United.

"Mile will be okay but he won't be going to China," said manager Paul Jewell. "Roy also has a groin injury which has flared up again. He made a really good save from Boateng against Middlesbrough and a few good saves I would expect him to make."
