Paul Jewell has laughed off suggestions that he ran a boot camp at Moor Farm in the week leading up to Saturday's 0-0 home draw aginst Sunderland.

"The only person who has talked about boot camps is the gutless and faceless individual who fed that story out to the press," the Derby manager told RamsWorld.

"Is it a boot camp when you get in at nine in the morning, play football all day and leave work at three? I don't think so. Not one player complained to me and the person who spoke to the press is a sneaky coward and I don't like people like that."

Of the Sunderland game, Jewell said: "I'm grateful of a point and grateful of the clean sheet.

"I was at Wigan last week as were 3,500 Derby fans who were quite rightly disgusted with the performance and at least we have had a response today and that's what I wanted.

"I'm not on a high tonight but at least we have got a point."

Commenting on Michael Chopra's first half goal that was ruled offside, he added: "Luck evens itself out over the season and you always need a bit of luck. We haven't turned any corner but it's the first clean sheet since Fulham, so at least we have something to be happy about tonight.

"It was horrible to watch but we got a clean sheet - the first since I came here and we have to take anything we can get right now and this result takes us into double figures.

"Now we just need to work some more on the training ground and get as many points as we can."
