Paris Simmons was on the spot to earn Derby's under-18 side a memorable win away to Liverpool last weekend.

The young Rams had shipped nine goals in their last two games without registering themselves but responded superbly on Merseyside.

They dominated last Saturday's encounter from start to finish and restricted their illustrious hosts to just a single clear chance.

Derby, for their part, had a number of opportunities to score and could have been awarded a spot-kick earlier than the one that produced their winner in the 62nd minute.

They were denied a clear penalty when Ryan Connolly saw his goalbound effort blocked by a Liverpool arm.

And with the home side not at the races, the Rams kept up the pressure and eventually got their reward just after the hour-mark.

Second-year scholar Simmons stepped up to fire home his 13th goal of his campaign before Derby defended doggedly to make sure they held on to their advantage.

They could have extended their lead through defender Alex Forde, who missed a good chance when a set-piece fell to him inside the Liverpool box.

But it didn't matter Derby rode out the final stages with no scares to pick up their tenth win of the FA Premier Academy League season.
